A Message of Light in Times of Darkness- The Raven’s Call.

Sacred Bounty Mixed Media Painting by Addie Hirschten

Today on my way home from my office on this rainy and dreary 40-degree day, I came upon a flock of Ravens. There had to be at least 40 of them. I immediately stopped my car on the side of the neighborhood street, enthralled by their magic. I turned off my car and cracked my windows open to hear the call of these fortune-telling birds. They disappeared as quickly as they had appeared, leaving me wanting more. I reluctantly started my car and slowly pulled away, gazing in my rearview mirror, hoping, waiting, wishing for one more sighting. When I arrived home moments later, I immediately went to my Animal Speak book written by Ted Andrews. This encyclopedia of animal symbolism and shamanic knowledge has been a staple go-to of mine for 20+ years. In its pages, I found: “Somewhere in your life, magic is at play. Raven activates the energy of magic, linking it with your will and intention. Raven teaches us how to take that which is unformed and give it the form you desire. It teaches how to go into the dark and bring forth the light. This is creation.”

I have always felt that Spirit speaks to me with messages through nature and animal encounters. Today, I was blessed by the message of the Raven. A reassurance that magic and creativity are alive and well in my world. The call tells me to not give up hope in the dark, that even though I may not be able to see now, being in the dark is a part of the creative process, for there is no emergence into the light without the time in the dark. The dark is impermanent, telling me to be patient for the magic of creativity is afoot.

If you find you are in the dark, trust and hope. The light is on the other side.
